Services

During the accommodation stay we strive to promote independence through life skill development, providing access to education and work/training opportunities to encourage confidence in young women to reach their full potential.

Margaret Tucker Hostel provides six week crisis accommodation to young Aboriginal and children aged 15-18 who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

The hostel is managed by a Committee of Management made up of Aboriginal women who are community members to oversee the strategic direction and governance of the hostel.

Bungalow

Margaret Tucker Hostel has a bungalow on-site that has been kindly provided by Kids Under Cover.

The bungalow is available to Aboriginal women aged 15-18 years of age who are pregnant or have a young baby up to 6 months old.

The Bungalow is a self-contained unit and includes:

  • Separate shower and toilet area

  • Kitchen space with small fridge, microwave and kettle

  • Bed, cot and change table

  • Television

The Bungalow is available for 6 weeks short-term accommodation and a Case Manager works with the young woman to access more long term permanent housing.
